How to transfer my phone number to a Videotron mobile phone
Scenario 1: I’m a new subscriber to a Videotron Mobile plan
Have you received your new SIM card? Activate it so you can start using your mobile services on your phone. See the steps to follow.
Scenario 2: I’m not yet subscribed to a Videotron Mobile plan.
- Shop online for our phones and Mobile plans, then order the ones you want. A representative will call you to confirm your order.
- You can also place your order directly by phone or in-store.
- Tell the representative that you want to keep your phone number. Videotron will send a number transfer request to your current provider.
- Your current provider will then text you a request to confirm the number transfer. You must approve this request.
- Activate the new SIM card you received by mail.
Note: If you bought your phone at a Videotron store, the transfer will be instantaneous once you’ve confirmed the request on your new device.
Don’t cancel your subscription with your previous provider until you have completed the number transfer, as only active numbers can be transferred.
When will my number be transferred?
The transfer time depends on your subscription method:
I subscribed online or by phone
You’ll receive your device, SIM card, or both, by mail. When you’re ready, you can activate your SIM card in the Customer Centre or by using the automated telephone service (1-877-477-5757).
I subscribed in-store
Once you have your device and have confirmed the request by text, your number will be transferred.

When porting your phone number from Videotron to a new service provider, an additional security check is required to confirm the transfer.
The security procedure is as follows:
- You subscribe to a given service provider’s mobile plan and say that you want to keep your current phone number.
- This new provider sends a number transfer request to Videotron.
- Videotron then sends you a number transfer confirmation request by text.
- You have until the day and time mentioned in the request to respond YES or NO to the transfer request.
- If your answer is YES, confirming the porting request, Videotron will send you a receipt confirmation, and the line will be ready for activation on the transferred number.
- If you answer NO, Videotron will invite you to contact your new provider for more information.
Frequently asked questions about phone number transfers
Ensure your contact information is up to date with your former provider by contacting them or logging in to your online account.
If the confirmation deadline indicated in the text has expired, you can request a phone number transfer again by contacting our Customer Service department.
If you’re unable to receive text messages on your device (if it’s broken or has been lost or stolen, for example), contact your former provider by phone or go to one of our points of sale so a representative can help you complete the number transfer.
If you accepted a porting request in error, contact our Customer Service as soon as possible to stop the transfer process.
This procedure is used by most providers to avoid fraudulent number transfers. Some fraudsters try to steal phone numbers to get their hands on the user’s personal information.
Yes, you can! Whether you’re a Home Phone subscriber at Videotron or with another provider, you can transfer the associated number to a Videotron mobile device.
The procedure is the same as when transferring a mobile number. However, you won’t receive a transfer confirmation request by text.
