We mentioned it already, but offering a Wi-Fi network within your premises is a genuine benefit for your company. Not only it is a strong loyalty strategy, but it can also give your business a competitive edge. Similarly, if your offer Wi-Fi access to your employees to make them more mobile inside your office, it is important to ensure that the Wi-Fi network works optimally.

Here are a few tips to ensure that your Wi-Fi router provides top performance.

  • The Wi-Fi router should be placed in a central location, and if possible, an open area.
  • If your office or premises occupy more than one floor, the router should preferably be installed on the top one.
  • The Wi-Fi router should not be placed on the floor, near windows or glass doors, metal structures (such as a wall or bar with a metal finish), mirrors, or water sources (hot water tanks, but also large fish tanks, cascades and ponds, etc.)
  • Other possible sources of interference to avoid: cordless phones, microwave ovens, as well as any other wireless electronic device that uses the 2.4 GHz frequency. Even better, choose a router that operates on dual bands that adds a 5GHz channel.

With these basic tips, you should be able to fully benefit from an optimal Wi-Fi network. However, depending on the type of equipments or the building structure, a more advanced expertise can be necessary, and a technician will be able to optimize your company’s connectivity.

Videotron Business Solutions now offers the Wi-Fi Optimization service.  With this service, a specialized technician can visit your premises and verify the range of your Wi-Fi network, and perform all the necessary optimizations to make your network as fast and efficient as possible.
