Your Helix entertainment platform lets you access a wide range of essential apps on your TV. Before you start the day, turn on the TV and launch the Weather app to know how to dress the kids for the day or check the status of your stock portfolio with the Stocks app. If you’re a sports fan, there is a great app that lets you check real-time sports statistics while watching your favourite shows.
The Weather app provides accurate, up-to-date weather forecasts. You can quickly access local weather, long-term forecasts, and even customize information based on where you live and your viewing preferences. You can also add additional locations or remove them. You can display the temperature in degrees Celsius and the wind speed in kilometres per hour for easy reference.
Access the Weather App:
To access the Weather app, press the HELIX button on your voice remote, go to the Apps section of the menu and select Weather.
Check out the current weather forecasts, or press the centre button to see the Long-term Forecasts. Then navigate using the left and right arrows to highlight the day of the week for which you want detailed forecasts.
Good to know
Press and hold the Microphone button on the voice remote while saying “Weather” and the name of the city for which you want the weather forecast. (For example: "Weather Sainte-Adèle")
Customize your experience:
By default, the app shows the weather forecasts for the city in which your Helix TV terminal is located. You can, however, add locations to know about the weather at the cottage or in the different cities where your loved ones live, for example.
Just press the down arrow while in the Weather app and select Add a Location. You can use the voice remote to enter the postal code or the name of the city. Conversely, you can remove locations to display only the information you want to see.
Sports fans will be happy with this very complete and above all, very practical app. One of the main advantages of this app is that it lets you see the results of games in progress, view the schedule of upcoming games and even watch games live while you watch different content on TV! No more waiting for the end of a broadcast to know whether your favourite team is winning or losing an important game!
Access the Sports App:
There are various ways to launch the Sports app.
- You can press the Microphone button on the voice remote and say “Sports app”.
- While watching TV, you can press the C button on your voice remote. The app opens on the right side of your screen without displaying the Guide.
- You can also open the Guide by pressing the HELIX button on your voice remote and accessing the Apps section where you can select the Sports app.
Once you’re in the app, you can filter what you want to display by choosing from various menu options, including On now, Upcoming, or by scrolling the names of sports conferences and leagues until you reach what you want (NBA Extras, NCAAB Extras, Soccer Extras, MLB Extras, NCAAF Football Extras or NFL Extras, for example).
You can then display:
- the scores for all games played earlier that day
- games in progress
- which team is in the lead and which players are currently playing
- upcoming games
- live coverage
- statistics, analysis and post-game summaries…
All this while continuing to watch TV!
