How can I monitor my Internet data usage?
You can easily see how much data you have used since the start of your billing period.
In the Customer Centre
- In the Internet section of your Customer Centre, click on View your Internet usage.
- In the Your Usage box, a bar displays the percentage of data used in your plan.
If the bar is YELLOW: Everything is fine, your usage does not exceed your plan’s Internet allowance.
If the bar moves to ORANGE: Be careful, you are going over your plan’s Internet allowance. Excess data used are shown in RED.
If you would rather track your data usage with a Mobile Internet plan, select the Mobile Internet tab.
Discover the User Centre + app
- Download the User Centre + app to your Apple or Android device.
- After entering your ID and password, refer to the Manage my Use section on the home screen.
If you plan to exceed your plan limit by the end of the billing period, avoid overage charges by adding Data Add-ons.
Good to know
Your Internet usage information is updated 4 times a day. The times may vary, so rely on the date and time of your last update.

What affects my Internet data usage?
Whether it’s web browsing, email exchanges, online gaming, various downloads, or using networked gaming consoles, any activity on the Internet generates usage.
However, some activities use more data than others:
- Streaming video or audio content on Netflix, YouTube, illico.tv, tou.tv, etc.
- File sharing using sharing software (P2P), for example using the Torrent protocol.
- Online games on XBOX LIVE, PlayStation Network, computer, etc.
- Online sharing and storage on cloud servers such as Google Drive, iCloud, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc.
- Using and updating smart phones, tablets and smart TVs connected to your Wi-Fi network.
- Adding connected objects, such as surveillance cameras.
Good to know
Overuse occurs when you transfer more data in a billing month than your Internet plan allows. In addition to your monthly plan, you will be billed for this excess usage at $4/GB, for a maximum of $100/month.
