You can contact emergency services free of charge at any time by dialing 911 from your cell phone, wherever you are in Canada and the United States.
Guidelines to follow:
- When calling 911, please give your name, your cell phone number and as much information as possible about the location you are calling from.
- Stay on the line and follow the instructions of the assistance agents until the 911 operator ends the call.
- After hanging up, leave your phone on in case the 911 operator calls you back.
We strongly recommend that you do not program 911 into your contacts or speed dial numbers in order to avoid accidental 911 calls.
911 Enhanced Phase 1
In Canada, Phase 1 Enhanced 911 Service allows the emergency call center operator to obtain the address of the tower that received the 911 call, as well as the telephone number that dialed 911. When Phase 1 Enhanced 911 is not available, simple 911 service is offered.
Phase 2 Enhanced 911
The Phase 2 Enhanced 911 service allows the emergency call center operator to accurately locate your device in most situations, in order to improve the assistance offered to Videotron subscribers in distress in Canada. When Phase 2 Enhanced 911 is not available, Phase 1 Enhanced 911 or simple 911 service is offered.
In most of Canadian regions, emergency call centers are equipped to offer Phase 2 Enhanced 911 service. If the emergency call center in the area you are calling from is not equipped with advanced location technology, your device may still be located, but with less accuracy. The address of the tower that received your call will be provided to the emergency call center.
