A series on a pivotal period in Québec’s legal history

Directed by Julie Perreault and based on a script by Luc Dionne, L’Appel was produced in 2024.

In the summer of 1997, the Québec Biker War between the Hells Angels and the Rock Machines came to a head with the murder of two prison guards, Diane Lavigne and Pierre Rondeau. Within six months, the investigators succeeded in arresting the main suspect: informer Stéphane “Godasse” Gagné pointed the finger at Maurice “Mom” Boucher, who had ordered the murders. What follows is a veritable warrior’s course for the investigators of the specialized Carcajou squad and prosecutor France Charbonneau, who join forces to put an end to the carnage and finally bring Boucher down.

L’Appel series tells the story behind this important piece of Québec judicial history, the prosecutors’ and investigators’ take on the case, and the steps that led to the arrest and conviction of Maurice “Mom” Boucher.
