How does Videotron’s Mobile Internet traffic management work?
Videotron applies its Mobile Internet traffic management measures when the Internet usage of the Unlimited Voice and Data plan exceeds 5 GB in a given billing cycle. Once the 5 GB threshold has been exceeded, the upload and download traffic of the device with an unlimited plan is given a low-priority rating. As a result, depending on the severity and duration of congestion, upload and download speeds may be slowed. However, even after it has exceeded 5 GB, the device can use bandwidth that is unused by regular-priority traffic, both upstream and downstream.

Why are there Mobile Internet traffic management measures in place?
Videotron’s goal is to provide the best online experience for as many users as possible. Mobile Internet traffic management measures are put in place to prevent a small number of intensive users from degrading, even momentarily, the level of service provided to all network users.
Videotron’s traffic management does not target any particular type of traffic or specific applications or protocols such as peer-to-peer file sharing or tethering.
