Frequently asked questions about Call Display
If a caller is not receiving your calls, it may be because your number has been filtered. Filtered calls appear in the call history, but do not ring on your caller’s phone. There are two possible reasons for this:
- The caller has blocked your phone number.
- Your number is considered suspicious by the phone’s operating system.
To restore your number’s reputation so that it is not filtered, you can:
- Update your Google Business Profile, if you have one or if your number is linked to an organization that has one. See how to manage a Google Business Profile.
- Submit a request to restore your identity on the Hiya site.
You can also perform the following checks with your caller, depending on what kind of phone they have.
Android
Filtered calls are marked “Suspected Spam” in the call log.
Your caller can manually unblock your contact in their phone’s Block calls from unknown numbers option.
Samsung
Filtered calls are marked “Suspected Spam” and display the SMART logo in the call log.
Samsung’s Smart Call feature identifies suspected spam or fraudulent calls and can block or report your number.
To request that your number no longer be classified as spam, you must submit a request on the Hiya website.
iPhone
iPhone owners can activate the Silence Unknown Callers option. Phone numbers of callers with whom they have never been in contact and who are not on their contact list are then filtered.
Calls from unknown numbers do not ring on the phone and are redirected directly to voicemail. They are visible only on the list of recent calls.
To restore reception of your calls, you can ask your caller to add you to their contacts.
