Why unlock my mobile device?
Unlocking your mobile device allows you to use mobile services from a different provider than the one who sold you the device.
All Videotron devices sold after December 1, 2017, are already unlocked. Our advisors can only unlock mobile devices sold by Videotron.
You may want to unlock your Videotron mobile device:
- When on a long trip, if you want to use the mobile services of a service provider in the country you are visiting
- When subscribing to the services of a new provider, if you keep the mobile device you purchased from Videotron
Warning: Before trying to use your Videotron mobile device with another provider, make sure the device supports that provider’s frequencies. If in doubt, ask the provider directly.
Unlock my mobile
To know if your device is locked, insert a SIM card from another provider into your device. A message will prompt you to enter an unlock code if the device is locked.
Warning: To unlock an iPhone, contact our Customer Service.
Unlock your Android device by following these steps:
- Enter *#06# to get your IMEI number.
- Copy that number in the field below to verify its compatibility.
- Follow the steps.
To get help, contact our Customer Center. If the IMEI number does not match a Videotron device, contact the operator who provided you with the device.
Frequent questions about unlocking your mobile
You are not required to unlock your mobile phone before giving it away or selling it. The new owner can benefit from the Bring your own device program without having to unlock your old phone.
Unlocking your mobile phone does not erase your data. You will still have access to all the existing data on your phone.
Device unlocking is free as of December 1, 2017.
