Terminal reception and activation
If you received your terminal via Canada Post, turn it on and the activation should start automatically. Activation may take up to 30 minutes to complete.
If you bought your HD terminal from one of our authorized dealers (rather than in a Videotron store), turn it on and wait 30 minutes to complete the activation by calling Technical Support.

How to connect your terminal to an HD television?
To connect a terminal to an HD television, you have the choice between two connections: HDMI or with component cables.
HDMI connection (recommended)
- Connect the Videotron coaxial cable on the back of the terminal to the CABLE IN connection.
- Connect the power supply cable on the back of the terminal to an electrical outlet.
- Connect the HDMI cable on the back of the terminal to your TV’s HDMI input.
- Turn on the terminal by pressing the Videotron remote CBL or Power button.
- Turn on the TV with your TV remote.
- Look for a TV SOURCE, VIDEO SOURCE, or INPUT button.
- Select the appropriate source (HDMI).
- Configure the terminal using the Quick Start Wizard displayed the first time you start the terminal. This guide is specific to the illico TV new generation terminal.
Connection with component cables
- Connect the Videotron coaxial cable on the back of the terminal to the CABLE IN connection.
- Connect the power supply cable on the back of the terminal to an electrical outlet.
- Insert the component cables (green, blue, and red ends) on the back of the terminal to the Y, Pb, and Pr outputs of the same colour.
- Insert the other end of the component cables to the Y, Pb, and Pr inputs on the back of your TV.
- Insert the RCA audio cables in the red and white audio outputs (L and R) of your terminal.
- Insert the other end of the RCA cables in the red and white inputs (L and R) of your TV.
- Turn on the terminal by pressing the Videotron remote CBL button.
- Turn on the TV with your TV remote.
- Look for a TV SOURCE, VIDEO SOURCE, or INPUT button.
- Select the appropriate source (component).
- Configure the terminal using the Quick Start Wizard displayed the first time you start the terminal. This guide is specific to the illico TV new generation terminal.
Warning: If you have an illico TV new generation terminal, it is not recommended to connect it to a standard television because it was designed for 16:9 (widescreen) HD TVs only. If you connect your terminal with a component cable or to a standard TV, the quality of the picture and interfaces will be reduced. Therefore, though the connection is possible, it’s not recommended..
How to connect an HD terminal to a standard television?
To start, connect your terminal to a standard television by connecting the coaxial cable to the CABLE IN connection on the back of the terminal and to the coaxial wall plate, and the power supply cable from the terminal to the electrical outlet. Then, follow the procedure according to the chosen connection.
Connection with RCA cables
Use the red and white RCA cables for audio, and yellow for video.
Connection with coaxial cable
Connect the coaxial cable to the CABLE OUT connection on the back of the terminal and to the CABLE IN connection on the back of your TV.
Other connection
Use the red and white RCA cables for audio, and S-Video cable for video.
When the connection from your HD terminal to a standard television is completed:
- Turn on the terminal by pressing the Videotron remote CBL or Power button.
- Turn on the TV with your TV remote.
- Look for a TV SOURCE, VIDEO SOURCE, or INPUT button.
- Select the appropriate source (Cable-03, Aux, or Video).
- Configure the terminal using the Quick Start Wizard displayed the first time you start the terminal. This guide is specific to the illico TV new generation terminal.
How to connect your terminal with other equipment?
It is possible to connect different equipment to your terminal.
Connecting your terminal to a DVD burner or VCR
If you want to connect a terminal to a DVD burner or a VCR, you have the choice between two connections:
- Recommended connection: Connect the yellow RCA video cable, and the red and white RCA audio cables.
- Other connection: Connect the S-Video cable for video, and the red and white RCA cables for audio.
In order to finalize the terminal connection to a DVD burner or VCR, connect the television with a coaxial cable or RCA cables (yellow, white, and red).
Connecting your terminal to a home cinema or an audio amplifier
If you have an audio amplifier only, connect your terminal to it with a coaxial digital audio cable or an optical audio cable (SPDIF). Then use the video cables to connect the terminal to your television.
This configuration is the same to connect your terminal to a 5.1 audio/video home cinema system.
If you have an audio video amplifier, connect your terminal to your home cinema with an HDMI or component cable and an RCA audio cable. Then use the video cables to connect the home cinema to the television.
