What is mobile data?
When your device is not connected to a Wi-Fi network, you must use mobile data to perform actions that require an Internet connection (browsing the Web, playing online games, watching a video, etc.).
Videotron’s mobile data plans therefore give you access to the Internet from your mobile phone wherever you are.
Data usage is measured in megabytes (MB) and gigabytes (GB). One GB equals 1,024 MB.
How much data is included in my plan?
You can check your usage limits via the Customer Centre platform on your computer or the User Centre + app on your phone (available on Google Play or in the App Store).
Bonus data
Many of our Mobile plans include a bonus data bank of 10 GB or 100 GB per year, usable in Canada. Learn how bonus data works.
What happens when I exceed the capacity included in my plan?
Data overage occurs when, for a given billing cycle, you exceed your mobile data plan’s monthly data allowance.
All usage that exceeds the data allowance is billed in addition to your monthly service fee, according to the rates specified in your Data Add-on. Find more information about how to manage your mobile data usage.
Is there an overage limit?
If you exceed the amount of mobile data usage included in your plan, the excess usage charges will be limited to the following amounts:
- $50 for data overage in Québec
- $100 for data overage while roaming outside of Québec
Although not recommended, it is possible to remove these usage fee limits.
