What are Wi-Fi pods and what are they used for?
Wi-Fi pods are small devices you plug into a power outlet. They help improve your wireless connection by eliminating areas where coverage weakens, also known as “dead zones.” You’ll then enjoy consistent coverage in every room.
These pods are optional, since the Helix Fi gateway is often enough to provide you with a fast connection and reliable Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home.

Do you need Wi-Fi pods?
If you see that the Wi-Fi signal is weak or intermittent in some rooms in your home, Wi-Fi pods can be a solution to correct the situation by extending your coverage to better serve these areas.
However, several factors may affect your Internet connection, such as sources of interference or the number of devices used simultaneously. Read our tips on how to improve your Wi-Fi network first.

How many Wi-Fi pods do you need?
The recommended number of pods may vary based on your needs and various factors, such as the size of your home, its construction materials and where your Helix Fi gateway is located.
Recommended: one Wi-Fi pod
For most Quebec homes, for example a one or two-story home with three to four bedrooms, a single Wi-Fi pod is enough. It will help prevent weak signals in the rooms furthest from the Helix Fi gateway and stabilize your Internet connection.
Specific requirements
To get full coverage throughout a very large house with five or more bedrooms, you may need two pods, depending on how big the rooms are, the thickness of the walls and what they’re made of.
Wi-Fi pods cannot be installed outside, but a pod installed in the room next to your patio or deck will extend the coverage outdoors
