Frozen cell phone: Perform a forced restart
If your mobile phone is frozen, stuck with the screen lit, does not respond properly to commands, or no longer turns on, a forced reboot of the device can often restore proper operation.
Select the brand of your phone and follow the restart steps.
Procedure for iPhone models 8, X, XR, XS, SE (2nd and 3rd generation), 11, 12, 13, and 14.
- Press and release the VOL+ button.
- Press and release the VOL- button.
- Press and hold the ON/OFF button until the device shuts down.
- The Apple logo should appear.

Slow mobile phone: free up storage space
If your mobile phone is under performing, very slow, or takes longer to respond, there may not be enough storage space. If the free space is less than 10%, your mobile phone may start to have operational problems.
Select the brand of your phone and follow the steps to check the space available and free some if necessary.
- In the Settings, select General, then select iPhone Storage.
- Refer to the Recommendations to optimize storage space and activate them if desired.
- From the list of installed apps, which indicates the space each app occupies, select the one whose details you wish to view, then choose one of the following actions:
- Uninstall the app to free up space while keeping documents and data
- Delete app and app data
- Remove some of the documents and data from an app
Warning: The Storage Almost Full alert message may appear if your iPhone is running out of space. Follow the recommendations to free up storage or uninstall unused apps and videos.

- Open the Settings and select Battery and device care.
- Press Storage.
- Check the remaining storage space and delete unused apps and files.
If the deletion option is not proposed, the application or file in question is required by the operating system and must be retained.

- Open the Settings and press Storage.
- Press a category to see what saturates the storage.
- Back in Storage, select Free up space and press the menu .
- Select Settings and activate Smart Storage to free up space automatically.

- Check the usage of storage space and free up more if necessary.
If all else fails, restore factory settings
If the forced reboot and release of storage space has not restored your mobile phone to proper operation and the root cause of the problem remains unknown, you can perform a reset to the factory settings. This procedure, which is also useful for correcting application problems that have occurred following a software update, removes downloaded applications, stored documents (photos, music, etc.), and malware, if applicable.
Warning: Before resetting to the factory settings, save the data stored on your device to avoid losing it.
Data backup
Select your phone’s operating system and follow the steps to save your data.
Note: The procedure may vary slightly depending on the model of your device.
- In Settings, select your name and tap iCloud.
- Select iCloud Backup and activate to automatically backup your iPhone on a daily basis.
- To perform a manual backup at a specific time, press Back Up Now.
You can view your iCloud backups by selecting Settings > your name > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > Backups
You can delete a backup by selecting it from the list and pressing Delete & Turn Off Backup.
If you use iCloud synchronization for an app or feature, its data is stored in iCloud and automatically updated on all your devices. Therefore, they will not be included in your iCloud backup.

- Open the Settings and tap Google, then Backup.
- Tap Back up now.

Restore Factory Settings
Warning: Resetting to factory settings will result in the loss of unsaved data, SMS, and contacts. Have your different credentials and passwords handy to re-install your device and re-download the apps from the App Store or Play Store once the reset is complete.
Select the brand of your phone and follow the steps to reset to factory settings.
Note: The procedure may vary slightly depending on the model of your device.
- In Settings, select General, then Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Select Erase All Content and Settings and press Continue.
- Enter your code, if you have one.
- Wait for iCloud backup or select Skip backup.
- If Find My iPhone is enabled, enter your Apple ID and password, and press Turn Off.
- Press Erase iPhone.
- Wait for the device to reboot and follow the basic iPhone setup instructions.

- Open the Settings and select General management.
- Select Reset and tap Factory data reset.
- Read the information, then drag your finger from bottom to top and press Reset.
- Enter your unlocking data, if applicable, and select Delete all.
- If your phone is linked to a Samsung account, enter your account password.
- Tap OK.
- Wait for the device to reboot and follow the basic setup instructions for the device.

- Press Reset options, then press Erase all data (factory reset).
- Press Erase all data.
- If prompted, enter your code and press Erase all data.
- When the reset is complete, select the desired reboot option and follow the basic setup instructions for the device.
