Access a partner network on mobile
To use data on a partner network, you need to:
- Enable data roaming in your phone's network settings.
- Have a mobile device compatible with the frequencies of our extended coverage partner networks (Partner 2).
See the list of incompatible devices.
Warning: Extended coverage partner networks (Partner 2) are to be considered complementary, the usage of which is limited. Consult the extended coverage partner networks usage limits.
Recognize a partner network
Our phones are programmed to prioritize the Videotron network. When your phone is outside the Videotron network, it will automatically connect to an available partner network.
When you’re connected to a partner network, its name will be displayed on your phone. The networks may be:
- Videotron PRTNR (Québec and the Greater Ottawa region)
- Videotron PRTNR1 (in Canada, outside Québec)
- Videotron PRTNR2 (all of Canada)
Using services on a partner network
During transitions from the Videotron network to those of our partners, calls are dropped and must be re-established. Data transfers are also temporarily interrupted.
Some entertainment and informational special codes (*/#) exclusive to Videotron, as well as international calls to certain countries, may be limited or impossible to make via extended coverage partner networks (Partner 2). Although we request an optimal level of performance from our partners, signal quality and technology may vary, and data transmission speed may be slower than on the Videotron network.
Extended coverage
Extended coverage refers to all the providers that are a part of the Partner 2 network. It’s available across Québec and nationwide. Extended coverage kicks in when the Videotron network or main partner network is out of range—that’s why you’ll see PRTNR2 displayed onscreen when you’re connected to it.
Extended coverage partner networks usage limits
The use of extended coverage partner networks (Partner 2) is limited in duration and should be considered as additional coverage.
Note: the usage limits concerns only the extended coverage partner networks (Partner 2), not all partner networks.
Note that when your usage of extended coverage partner networks (Partner 2), for Voice, data and SMS services, exceeds 50% of your total usage for three consecutive billing periods, your access to Partner 2 group networks will be blocked for 30 days.

Need more information about the mobile network?
There are no additional charges when you use the extended coverage partner networks (Partner 2). Roaming charges do apply when customers subscribed to a Québec plan use our partner networks in the rest of Canada.
If you mostly use extended coverage partner networks (Partner 2) for two consecutive billing periods, a notification text message will be sent to you and access to Voice, data, SMS, and MMS services on partner networks will be blocked for a period of 30 days.
If the access to extended coverage partner networks (Partner 2) seems blocked, it may be caused by exceeding the usage limit for partner networks. Consult the extended coverage partner networks usage limits.
We do not recommend manually connecting to the PRTNR2 network, because it deprives you of access to the Videotron network and the Partner 1 group networks. In addition, if your use of this network exceeds 50% of your total usage for three consecutive billing periods, your access to Partner 2 group networks will be blocked for 30 days.
