Change my Customer Centre password
Forgot your password or suspect that your account has been hacked? To best protect your account, consider changing your password.
Here’s how.
Forgot your password?
Don’t worry, it happens.
Simply click on the change your password link on the screen. We’ll send you an email at the address listed in your account. Follow the provided link to choose a new password (reset).
You’ve been locked out of your Customer Centre account
Your Customer Centre account will be locked after five unsuccessful login attempts. This helps us protect your personal information in case of fraud.
If this happens to you, the website will automatically redirect you to a reset page. Change your password by following the instructions on the screen.
Choosing a better Customer Centre password
Choosing a strong, hard-to-guess password is a great way to protect your account.
When you choose your new password, our systems automatically check that it meets our security criteria. Your password should contain 6 to 16 characters and include at least one letter and one number. However, avoid using the following special characters, as they are not accepted: [Space] , = + < > # @
Never reuse a previous password or a password from another service. Avoid using passwords that are easy to guess, such as your name or that of your loved ones, date of birth, address, etc.
To create a password that is both complex and easy to remember, invent a sentence and use the first letter of each word. Example: “John walks his dog twice a day” becomes “jwhd2ad.” To avoid having to enter your username and password (your login information) at every login, you can use your browser’s “Remember Me” feature. This will save your password.
Warning: If you’re accessing your account using a shared computer, do not use this feature. Use a password manager instead.
How often should you change your Customer Centre password?
It’s best to only keep a password for a short time. We recommend that you change your password in the following cases:
- As soon as you have received a temporary password after a password recovery procedure.
- When you suspect that your Videotron account or any other account has been hacked.
- On a regular basis, for example, every three months.
