What is Take-back Credit program?
With the Take-back Credit program, you get a credit on your monthly payments for 24 months when you commit to returning your device, in good condition, at the end of that period.
When your agreement ends, bring your mobile phone back to the store. A representative will have a look at it to make sure it meets the return criteria.
Am I eligible for the Take-back Credit?
The program is available to anyone who purchases an eligible device and chooses the Simplified Payment option.
Take-back Credit Program Terms and Conditions
Here’s how to prepare your device before returning it to the store, along with the criteria for an acceptable return.
- Disable the activation lock (FMiP, Android lock, etc.).
- Disable the screen lock, PIN, or password lock.
- Reset the device to erase all your data.
Return conditions
- The mobile device must not have any chips, scratches (nail depth) or cracks on the front screen and casing
- The device must not have any drop marks
- The device structure, casing, and connector must not show signs of damage
- The screen glass must not be loose
- All parts of the device must be present and must be original parts
- The device must not show any signs of liquid damage—no LCI should be tripped
- The device must have a battery and the battery must not be swollen
- The battery cover must be present
- The device must not have been customized (no paint or stickers)
- The device must pass key functionality tests (power, home buttons, display, charging port, camera)
- The device’s screen must not have any halos or white dots, and must not be discoloured
- The device must not have been jailbroken or rooted
Take-back Credit program on my invoice
The Videotron Take-back Credit program appears on your invoice in the Simplified Payment option section.
The Take-back Credit is not taxable, and is therefore applied to the balance of the device, which is divided into 24 months.
Frequently asked questions about how the Videotron Take-back Credit works
Most of our devices are eligible for Take-back Credit, but not all. You can find them easily, as they mention “Take-back Credit” on our Mobile page.
When purchasing your new device with the Simplified Payment option, you can choose the Take-back Credit program.
If you terminate your agreement before the end of the 24-month period, you will have the option to :
- keep your device and repay the full amount of the Take-back Credit
or - return your device to a Videotron store without repaying the amount of the Take-back Credit, if the device meets the return conditions.
In all cases, you will have to pay the full amount of your remaining Simplified Payment option.
If you lose your phone or have it stolen from you, you will be required to pay back the entire Take-back Credit amount.
Also note that loss and theft are not covered by Videotron’s Mobile Device Protection Program.
If you are enrolled in the Mobile Device Protection Program or subscribed to AppleCare+, you can have your phone repaired or replaced. You will continue to take advantage of the Take-back Credit each month, and can return your device at the end of the 24-month period.
If you do not have a protection program, you have three options:
- Have the phone repaired at your own expense and continue to take advantage of the Take-back Credit for the rest of the agreement
- Pay a wear-and-tear fee, based on observed breakage, when returning the device at the end of the agreement
- Do not have the device repaired, pay the full Take-back Credit amount at the end of the agreement, and keep the device
Simply stop by any Videotron store with your mobile phone within 30 days of the end of the agreement. One of our representatives will have a look at it to make sure it meets the return criteria.
Yes. To keep your phone, simply repay the Take-back Credit program credit.
